About me
Qualifications and experience
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have experience of working with all ages and a special interest in working with young adults and teenagers. I work using an integration of different therapeutic approaches which includes Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural and Systemic therapy.
I completed my counselling diploma at Inter Psyche, a BACP accredited training provider and then gained a further qualification in working with young people at the Metanoia Institute in London.
I have worked as a therapist in a number of settings, this includes working with adults at the mental health charity MIND. For the last seven years I have been employed as a school counsellor in several different secondary schools in Kent. The years affected by covid were particularly challenging but gave me a great insight into how lockdown impacted the community I worked in.
More recently I worked for the mental health charity Place2Be as a school project manager. I worked closely with the school senior leadership team, parents and students on a wide range of issues including emotional based school avoidance, bullying, academic stress, neurosocial anxiety and identity issues. I have experience of the referral system to CAMHS and have an enhanced DBS certificate which can be shown on request.
I have lived in Tenterden for eighteen years.
